The road to parenthood can sometimes be a long and bumpy one. At Family Tree Holistic Health we use gentle, natural treatments including acupuncture, essential oils, massage, nutritional guidelines, and Chinese herbs to help create harmony between body, mind, and spirit so that we can help you increase your fertility, maintain a healthy pregnancy to term, and achieve the birth experience that you desire. We encourage women and couples to see us for every stage of family planning. We recommend scheduling your initial appointment with one of our practitioners, who will make recommendations for a treatment plan.
Pre-Conception Planning We will utilize acupuncture and reiki, as well nutritional and lifestyle recommendations to cultivate harmony within the body and mind by reducing stress, stabilizing menstrual cycles, and increasing overall physical health in preparation for conception.
Conception Once your cycle is stabilized we will create a plan for acupuncture and/or massage treatments customized around your monthly cycle, taking into account your dates of ovulation and prime dates for conception.
Male Infertility Approximately 40-60% of fertility issues are related to male factors, so we recommend fertility treatments for the male partner as well as the female partner. Research has shown acupuncture to provide a statistically significant increase in the percentage and number of sperm. Acupuncture restores the flow of qi (pronouced "chee," meaning vital energy or life force), removes energy blockages, and can increase overall male fertility. Massage can aid in overall relaxation.
Pregnancy Retention We recommend continuing with weekly or bi-monthly acupuncture treatments throughout the course of your pregnancy to help alleviate stress, optimize overall health, and increase your chances of retaining a healthy pregnancy. If complications should arise we will adjust our treatment as necessary to respond to your body and your baby's needs.
Morning Sickness and Other Pregnancy Discomforts As your body does the hard work of growing a human being, you may face a variety of common but uncomfortable effects. We can help address sleep issues; round ligament pain; "morning" sickness; acid reflux; and sciatica, usually bringing you relief in as little as one treatment.
Breech Presentation Acupuncture can help turn babies in both frank and transverse presentations. The smaller the baby is the more room he/she has to turn, so it's always best to see us as soon as you know your baby is breech.
Natural Labor Induction Acupuncture is a powerful tool for inducing labor. We are happy to provide labor induction on healthy expectant moms who are past their 40-week due date. Sometimes an earlier induction is necessary for medical reasons: if you are facing a medical induction we urge you to see us first to increase your chances of going into labor naturally.
Lactation & Breastfeeding With acupuncture, herbs, and vitamins we can address lactation issues helping to either increase or decrease supply as needed.
Colic Acupuncture is a healthy and natural option for the whole family, including your new baby! A recent studyfound acupuncture to be beneficial in treating colic in young babies, using as few as two needles for only 2-5 seconds. Our practitioners are parents too, and will always treat your little one with the utmost care and attention.
Baby Blues & Postpartum Depression Hormone fluctuations after pregnancy are common, but left untreated can become dangerous. We can help bring your hormones back into balance, and help you find much-deserved joy during this time in your life. Our sessions will focus on the mind-body connection. We recommend scheduling an appointment for acupuncture as well as massage for optimal self-care and energy flow. During your treatment we will discuss recommendations for nutrition and supplements such as Chinese herbs and essential oils.
Healthy Recovery Pregnancy creates many changes in your physical body and hormones over a relatively short period of time. We can recommend a treatment plan that helps address whatever your concerns are including anxiety, fatigue, bladder control, back or shoulder pain, and more, as we work to get your menstrual cycle back into regulation.
Doula Services Doula is a Greek word, which means “woman caregiver.” However, the word is now used to describe someone who is formally trained and experienced in supporting a woman, and her partner (if applicable), through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This includes, but is not limited to, education, emotional support and physical comfort measures.
