As parents, we understand the importance of seeking out natural, non-invasive treatments for children. We work carefully to build a relationship with your child and gain his/her trust. During our initial session, you and your child will have the opportunity to ask questions and see the tools and accessories that are commonly used during a treatment.
The most common conditions we treat in children are attention issues (ADD/ADHD), environmental or food allergies, colic, gastrointestinal distress, minor aches and pains, and headaches. We have several patients who are on the autism spectrum. We can treat clients of all ages, including newborns, toddlers, and school-aged kids. We always recommend using acupuncture as a complimentary treatment for children: it is important to also follow the advice of your child's medical professionals.
Our acupuncturists are all experienced in treating children with needles. They start by showing your child the needles, and demonstrating insertion into a caregiver's hand. If and when your child is willing, a small pediatric needle can be inserted, usually into your child's hand or other location of their choosing. Even the most needle-phobic child will generally overcome their fears during this gentle introduction to acupuncture. In cases where the child is still uncomfortable with the use of needles, alternative treatment options (acupressure, dietary consultations, herbs, essential oils, etc.) will be discussed.
